 External Recognition - Session 9

During the DFI sessions I have learnt different skills in creating sheet, form, sites, slides, drawings, codes, channels and playlist on youtube. I am very grateful in using all these to support the learners in my class as well as to be more competent in using digital skills so that I can improve my professional learning. It also important for my personal life when organising events for my church and family.

I believe that Pasifika children will be more benefit if they understand how to create things on goggle, as most of them are visual learners.

But anyway, I need to spend more time to practice so that I can be more competent in working on goggle.

Thank you

Computational Thinking

Session # 8 - Computational Thinking learned how to use code to create a game and learning activities in the classroom. I have explored what others schools and teachers had created using codes. During this session I discovered how it very important for me to practice before I teach any lesson to the my students. I have explored different learning activities using codes that other teachers had created for their students.

This is the task that I had created using codes on Scratch.

DFI Week 7 - Using devices

Another exciting week of learning about different devices that schools will  be using with students. We had a great session with Dorothy and she was talking about  the Manaiakalani programme leading to the  first lockdown of Covid 19 last year. As I did not use any online programme with my students, it is  to learn different ways to work with my students online if there is another lockdown in the future. I am lucky to be part of DFI session this week.

Today we were looking at different devices that students will be using at school for their learning. Teachers need to be comfortable in using these devices before teaching the students.

This is the task that I had done to show how to use a Chromebook.

The other task is using an Ipad and exploring the different tools on Explain Everything.

I am very grateful to learn different skills in using goggle site to create my class site and other sites that I am planning to create. I believed that the more I practice  using different tools in creating sites, sheets and slides and then I will be competent with the skills I have learnt during the DFI this term.

I will create a site for my team so the teachers will be able to access and get resources or information relating to the topic for the term. Using goggle site is a vital part of my learning that I need to improve.

I will share  my class site with my students so they will be able to identify their learning in each curriculum area.

Using slides as last week I did a presentation at our Samoan bilingual workshop and I did use goggle slides and I was very pleased what I have achieved during the DFI.

This is my class site that I have created this week.

Collaborative Session- WEEK 5 10.3.2021

I have learnt how to create a site related to a topic and adding in all the appropriate resources that will help the students to read and find information. I also identify ways of how to start a jam link for teachers or students to put in poems, videos, song and books about selected topic.I will create a site with my team to share resources related to our unit plan for the term. This is the site that I have created today.

DFI Week 4 - Dealing with data

This is my activity that I created today and it is based on one of Amy's student blog posts for 2020. I am very excited to learn how to create a form for assessment tasks as well as planning a survey to collect some data on a particular topic. I have discovered how to use spreadsheet to record students achievement data and create a chart or graph to check how they progress during the year. I will practice what I  have learnt during the four sessions so that I can be more competent in using goggle doc.

Media

It is great to learn how to use goggle slides as I was using power point to do my presentation as well as creating activities for my class. Now, it is very easy to use goggle slides where all the icons are on the side. I am learning how to start a channel for you tube to assisting me with my teaching. I have learnt to use goggle drawing and use playlist on my channel so I can easily assess music and videos on you tube. I will use goggle slides with my class to create learning activities and games for each curriculum area. Using goggle slides to do a presentation at church as well as creating a family poster for my family. Goggle Slides creation:

DFI Work flow

• What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy? The Manaiakalani programme is bsed on three words create, learn and share. It is an intentional, focused evidence base programme that will support your communtiy of learning to move from the analogue world to the digital world wide. It will support teachers to understand how the digital technologies used effectivelly can have a significant impact on accelerating achievement outcomes as well as to maximise the impact of effective teaching in a digital learning enviroment. • What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional? It is an excellent session where I learned how to create a calendar and share with other people, as well as using different tips to organise my bookmark and tabs. • What did I learn that could be used with my learners? I would like to take a video of my learners doing reading and share with them. I can record their responses during class discussions. • What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life? I learned that I can create a calendar for my own personal events as well as using keep notes for any family or church sessions or celebrations. DFI 1st Session Core Business.

I learned how to create on goggle doc, tidying up folders in my drive as well as creating groups.

I need to try all the things that were presented today in my own time and keep on going to goggle doc and practice all the skills I learned today.

I showed my learners how to insert images on to a document on to their work and use voice key to record their reading so they improve their fluency.

I would like to keep working on the goggle doc and try some new ways of improving my digital fluency.

This is what I created today.
